Apple MacBook: There is talk in the tech world that Apple is preparing a MacBook which could be the most affordable model ever. According to reports, its starting price is said to be around $599, which comes to around Rs 54,000 as per direct conversion. If this proves to be true then it could become the cheapest way for entry-level customers to enter the world of Apple laptops.

According to supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, this new model can be replaced with the traditional M-series processor with A18 Pro chip which is used in recent iPhone models. With this strategy, the company can try to keep costs down while maintaining the macOS experience.
Talking about the possible specifications, it is expected to have 8GB RAM and 256GB storage which is similar to the current entry-level MacBook configuration. The screen can be around 12.9 inch LCD which will have 60Hz refresh rate. It is clear from this that this model will focus on economy and basic use instead of premium display features.
Changes may also be seen in color options. There is talk of introducing young and attractive color options like blue, pink and yellow along with the traditional silver.
When can it be launched?
Reports indicate that this MacBook may be launched in the first half of 2026. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has also indicated that this could be Apple’s major Mac launch early in the year, although the exact month is not yet clear.
What could be the price in India?
Although the price of $599 is in the news, the actual price in India is likely to be higher than this. After adding import duty, GST and other taxes, its price can be between Rs 60,000 to 65,000. Despite this, it will be cheaper than the current MacBook Air and can make it easier for more people to buy Apple laptops.
In some reports, the starting price has also been said to be up to 699 or 750 dollars. If this happens then its price may increase further in the Indian market but still it may be available at a lower price than MacBook Air.
What compromises to keep the price low?
The company may make some compromises to achieve lower prices. Like fewer USB-C ports, basic LCD panel and minimum 8GB RAM. This model can be designed keeping in mind students and general users instead of power users.
If a smooth experience of macOS is available with the A18 Pro chip, then this MacBook can become a great option for those who till now considered Apple laptops out of their reach.
