Human Control Over Dreams: Today, Artificial Intelligence has made many tasks easier, from coding to content writing. But can it also control your dreams while sleeping? With this claim, AI startup Prophetic AI has introduced a special wearable gadget. The company says that with the help of this device the user can control his own dreams. Its starting price has been kept at around $449 (approximately Rs 42,000). However, questions still remain as to how true this claim is.
How does this dream control gadget work?
The company has launched its two new devices Dual and Phase. These look like headbands which have to be worn on the head. According to the company, these devices trigger lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is a condition when a person is able to understand during the dream that he is dreaming and can also make changes in it.
Science behind technology
According to Prophetic AI, these devices send safe ultrasonic waves through the head that activate the prefrontal cortex of the brain. This part is related to thinking and taking decisions. During dreams this part usually remains less active due to which we do not have control over our dreams. The device tries to balance this activity so that the person can remain conscious in his dreams. Along with this, it is also equipped with Electroencephalogram sensors which track the brain activity. Such technology is also being used in projects like Neuralink.
Will this technique really work?
The basis of this gadget is an advanced technology called transcranial focused ultrasound (tFUS) which is being used in combination with AI. Its purpose is to target specific parts of the brain during REM sleep. According to the theory, this can make dreams more vivid, memorable and controllable. However, this has not been completely proven yet.
Price and availability
The Dual model of Prophetic AI will be available for $449 (about Rs 43,000) and its delivery is expected to start by the end of this year. At the same time, the price of Phase model has been kept at $ 1,299 (about Rs 1.2 lakh), whose shipping can start by mid-2027. AI is constantly pushing new boundaries and the idea of controlling dreams is quite exciting. But at present, it is necessary to wait for solid scientific evidence before considering it completely reliable.
