YouTube New Feature: To make watching videos easier, YouTube has now decided to extend its popular Picture-in-Picture (PiP) feature to more users around the world. Earlier this facility was for limited people but now gradually all users will be able to use it.
Who used to get PiP earlier and what changed now?
Earlier the PiP feature was available only to premium users outside the US, while some non-premium users in the US could also take advantage of it. Now Google has confirmed that in the coming time this feature will be released for all users around the world. This change means that now more people will be able to watch videos in a smaller window without closing the app.
How does PiP feature work?
In PiP mode, you can turn a video into a small floating window that stays on the screen even if you’re using another app. As soon as you exit the YouTube app or press the Home button, the video automatically starts playing in the small player. You can move this small video player anywhere on the screen and can also place it on top of other apps, which makes multitasking very easy.
Which users will get which benefit?
After the new update, non-premium users will also be able to use PiP feature for long videos (non-music content) on Android and iOS. Whereas premium users will continue to get this facility for both music and non-music videos.
How to turn PiP on or off?
If you want to use the PiP feature, you will have to go to your phone’s settings and turn it on. Android users can turn on Picture-in-Picture by going to the YouTube option under Apps in Settings. If you want to turn off this feature, then PiP can be turned off by going to the Settings of the YouTube app and in the Playback section.

When using PiP mode, you can tap the mini video to see the controls or drag it to the bottom of the screen to close it. This feature is especially beneficial for those people who want to do chatting, browsing or other work while watching videos. Now this update of YouTube will give more freedom to the users so that they can enjoy their favorite videos without any interruption.
