- Add oil for dry bearings, replace them immediately if worn.
Ceiling Fan Speed Issue: If the ceiling fan stops working during the summer season, it becomes a disaster. Even if you use AC and cooler, using them the whole day is very expensive. If there is a power cut then only the ceiling fan can run on the inverter battery. After continuous use, many times it happens that the speed of the fan reduces. Even though you have set the highest speed on the regulator, the fan does not run at that high speed. If your fan has become slow then you should try these few things before replacing it.
Replace the capacitor- If the speed of the fan has reduced and it is not providing air then there may be a problem with the capacitor. This small part helps the fan to run at full speed. When it gets old and starts malfunctioning, the speed of the fan reduces. Therefore, try replacing the capacitor. Its price is not high and it is available at any electrical shop.
Take a look at the regulator- This rarely happens but sometimes a fault in the regulator can put a brake on the fan speed. If the regulator is faulty, the fan does not get full voltage and it starts rotating very slowly. So try changing the regulator. If the fan starts rotating at full speed again, then understand that this problem was occurring due to a fault in the regulator.
Blade Alignment- If the fan blades are bent or their alignment is wrong, the fan may also stop blowing air. If this happens, the fan will have to use more power to rotate, which is harmful for other parts as well. So check the alignment of the blades. If the blade appears bent, it can be straightened by hand. Also keep the blades clean for maximum airflow. Due to accumulation of dirt on the blades, they become heavy and more load is put on the motor to rotate them.
Maintenance of bearings is also important- Most ceiling fans have two ball bearings and require maintenance. When the bearings dry, the fan starts making noise and sometimes its speed also reduces. In such a situation, work can be done by pouring some oil or lubricant on the bearings. If the bearings are completely worn out then call an electrician and get them replaced.
