How long does a solar battery last?
Solar panels last for 25-30 years, but the life of the batteries used in them is between 2-15 years. It depends on whether a lithium-ion battery or a lead-acid battery is being used. There is a lot of difference in the performance of these two. Lithium-ion batteries last for 10-15 years and do not require much maintenance, but lead-acid batteries last only for 3-4 years. It also requires more maintenance. There is also an option of solar gel battery in solar energy system. Its life also lasts for 6-8 years.
What things affect battery life?
Many things affect the life of solar battery. Battery life depends on its type. Similarly, many things including depth of discharge, charge cycle, temperature at which the battery is being used, speed of charging and discharging, maintenance, quality, usage pattern, charging and overcharging decide how long the battery will last. If a good quality battery is properly maintained, its life increases. At the same time, poor quality and poor maintenance reduce the battery life.

Decrease in backup time- If the battery is discharging in much less time than before, then the battery needs to be replaced.
Strange sounds coming- The battery starts making noise when there is internal leakage. If strange sounds are coming from the battery then replace it.
Slow charging- If the battery takes longer to charge, it indicates that the battery has malfunctioned or its charging cycles have been completed.
Bloating or leakage- If the battery is swollen or any fluid is leaking, the battery should also be replaced.
