iPhone 18: Apple is known for its new iPhone launch every year in September and for the last few years the company has been introducing a series of four models. But now a new report has indicated the breaking of this tradition. According to the report, Apple may not launch the standard iPhone 18 in the year 2026 and its entry may be postponed till 2027.
Chip shortage became a major reason for delay
According to Nikkei Asia report, Apple is struggling with the rising prices of memory chips and other important components. In such a situation, the company can postpone iPhone 18 till the first half of 2027 to manage its resources better and earn more profits from premium models. The report also says that this decision will help Apple avoid supply chain related problems.
Preparation of foldable iPhone is also the reason
Another major reason behind this delay is believed to be Apple’s first foldable iPhone. It is being said that this device will require complex manufacturing processes and new materials. Apple wants to avoid any kind of technical hindrance before starting its mass production, so the company is making changes in its launch plan.
Such signs have come before also
This is not the first time that the delay of iPhone 18 has come to light. Earlier, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, The Information and famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have also indicated that Apple will not launch iPhone 18 in 2026. Some reports have also claimed that the iPhone 18e model can be launched in early 2027.
What can be the changes in iPhone 18
If leaks are to be believed, to reduce the cost in iPhone 18, the camera control button can be simplified more than before and capacitive touch sensor will not be provided in it. Apart from this, the phone is expected to get 12GB RAM, which will be a big upgrade from the 8GB RAM of the current models. Improvements can also be seen on the camera front, where a 24-megapixel sensor is likely to be provided instead of 18-megapixel.
What is the plan for foldable and other iPhone models?
The report also revealed that Apple has at least five new iPhone models in the pipeline. These include iPhone Air 2, standard iPhone 18 and three premium devices which are being called iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Fold. However, the situation regarding the shipment of iPhone Air 2 is not clear yet.
What may come in the September event of 2026
The report also makes it clear that the shipment of iPhone Air 2 will not start this year. In such a situation, there is a high possibility of iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and foldable iPhone arriving in the September launch event of 2026. At the same time, old leaks suggest that iPhone Air 2 can be launched with the iPhone 19 series in September 2027.
