According to Nikita Beer, during the investigation it was found that one person was controlling a total of 31 different accounts. These accounts were first hacked and then their usernames were changed to names like Iran War Monitor. Through these profiles, AI generated war videos and content created in support of Iran were being posted rapidly.
He said that the platform’s team is now identifying such networks faster than before and incentives are also being removed for those who use such methods to spread misinformation.
Fake content created to earn money
When he was asked whether money was being given to these accounts by any organization or government, Beer said that in most of the cases this is not the case. He said that many people take advantage of trending topics just to make quick money.
He told that such people try to take advantage of the monetization system of social media. They do not care much about which political side the content is on, their main goal is only to get maximum views and impressions.
Warning of strict action on AI video
X has also implemented new strictures to prevent the spread of misinformation in sensitive situations like war. The company has made it clear that if a user posts an AI-generated video related to any war and does not disclose that the video was made with AI, then he can be suspended from the Creator Revenue Sharing Program. This program gives an opportunity to earn money to those users who have good reach and audience on their account.
Complete ban on repeatedly breaking rules
The company has also warned that if a creator violates the rules related to AI content for the second time, he will be permanently banned from this earning program. Nikita Beer said that in times of war, it is very important for accurate and reliable information to reach people because creating misleading videos through modern AI technology has now become easier than ever.
