Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk: During the Art Basel event held in Miami Beach, renowned digital artist Mike Winkelman, better known as Beeple, presented a very unique exhibition. In this show, billionaires like Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos were shown as hyper-realistic robot dogs. The exhibition, titled Regular Animals, featured mysterious, life-like masks created by artist Landon Meier, which created an instant sensation among the public.
Sharp artistic commentary on the influence of tech billionaires
According to Mashable’s report, the purpose of this artwork by Beeple is to show how tech billionaires are influencing society today and shaping people’s opinions.
He says that earlier artists used to have a big impact on the thinking and understanding of the society, but now social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X are playing this role, where billions of people are influenced by information and ideas every day.
The strange style of robot dogs became a topic of discussion
In the video, robot dogs were seen roaming in open spaces. Many viewers found this scene scary and strange. In a part of the video, these machines are seen bending backwards and raising their heads and at the same time they prepare a print. Viewers jokingly described it as akin to a “dog going potty”, especially when the text “poop mode” also appeared on the screen.
Strong success even amidst controversies
Even though this display was surrounded by controversies, its popularity increased so much that all the robot dogs displayed were bought by private collectors. The price of each piece was said to be around 1 lakh dollars, due to which Beeple’s exhibition proved to be very successful and profitable. This unique presentation has once again shown how interesting and sometimes unsettling the clash of art, technology and society can be.
