Cockroach Janata Party: The founder of ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP), who created a stir on social media, has started his new innings on the internet. Following the legal order of the Indian government, microblogging platform ‘X’ (earlier Twitter) had blocked the main account of this group in the country. Immediately after this digital action, its creator has activated a new handle named ‘Cockroach is back’ (@Cockroachisback).
Comeback with the slogan ‘Cockroaches never die’
A very interesting and strong message has been written in the profile bio of the new account – “Cockroaches Don’t Die!” (Cockroaches never die). Political strategist Abhijeet Deepke, considered the main brain behind this campaign, took this step when, following the instructions of the Government of India, ‘X’ had completely blocked the main handle of the movement (@CJP_2029) inside the country. Within a few hours of this action of the government, this digital group re-established its presence by creating a new platform.
Gave tough competition to BJP and Congress
Just before this legal action by the government, this group had made a huge record in the world of social media. ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ suddenly had about 14 million (1.4 crore) followers on Instagram. With this huge figure of followers, this page had even left behind the official handle of the country’s ruling party BJP (BJP) and stood at par with the main opposition party Congress (INC). Till the time of writing the news, Cockroach is Back has more than 25 thousand followers on X within an hour. Its creator Abhijeet Deepke had informed about the blocking of X account from his personal profile. But soon after this he created a new handle as a backup.

The whole controversy started with the statement of the Chief Justice
This ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP), which created a storm on the internet, was formed on 16 May. Actually, this movement started in protest against a harsh comment made by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant during a hearing in the Supreme Court. While hearing a case of fake degree, the Chief Justice had used the word ‘cockroach’ in reference to some unemployed youth involved in digital activism (activism on the internet).
Youth’s anger over clarification given on statement
However, seeing the growing controversy, the Chief Justice later gave clarification on this. He had clarified that his statement had been distorted and his comment was only against fraudulent professionals working on the basis of fake degrees. Despite this, the angry and frustrated youth of the country turned this word into a big weapon against the government and the system. This satirical platform, which describes itself as ‘the voice of the lazy and unemployed’, got huge support from the youth who are struggling with problems like lack of jobs and frequent paper leaks.
Cockroach Janata Party released manifesto
This unique movement has adopted a very aggressive stance on social media and has also released a 5-point manifesto. Through this manifesto, a demand has been made to bring complete transparency in the judiciary and to immediately stop the political benefits and posts given to judges after retirement. The strength of this campaign can be gauged from the fact that till now more than 3,50,000 (three and a half lakh) people have registered themselves as official members of this party through the internet.
