Google Chrome Users Are At Risk: If you use Google Chrome then you need to be careful. Some serious security flaws have come to light in this browser, taking advantage of which cyber attackers can target your system. With the help of these vulnerabilities, attackers can steal your personal data, install malware and in many cases can even bring the entire system to a standstill. In view of these threats, the government agency CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team) has issued an alert. Let us tell you that Google Chrome is among the most used browsers in the world and crores of people in India use it for office and personal work.
These versions of Google Chrome are more at risk
In the alert issued by the government agency, it has been said that versions older than 148.0.7778.96 on Linux and 148.0.7778.96/97 on Windows and Mac systems are at risk due to these security flaws. By taking advantage of these flaws, attackers can force users to open a malicious website or click on a harmful link. If this happens, attackers can steal sensitive data including passwords and banking details from the system. Apart from this, they can also crash the system and bypass the security protection of the browser.
These flaws have been found in Chrome
The Cyber Security Agency has detected security flaws in several components within Chrome. According to the information, these flaws have been found in Chrome’s rendering engine, graphics processing and memory handling. Apart from this, memory error, input validation glitch and security policy bypass have also been detected. All these things seem technical when read, but they will have a direct impact on your data and device security.
What option do users have now?
The agency has advised all users to update their Google Chrome browser immediately. To fix these security flaws, the company has released new security patches, which can be installed by updating the browser. For this, first open Chrome, then go to the Help section and click on “About Google Chrome”. If you see any new update available there, download and install it immediately. Let us tell you that to avoid the latest features and bugs, apps and software should always be kept updated.
